What type of rock is this?

Hello,
I picked up a piece of "live rock" from the local lfs. I'm wondering if any one of you can tell me if it's natural or man made. The lfs stores this type of rock in a tank with skimmer and flow but no lights. Thank you.

I believe you have it upset down, and if I'm correct, it is old pukani rock . Turn it over and see if it looks more natural.

Pukani rock is much more porous and no longer available in trade.
It's difficult to say, but it might be Marco Rock ( from quarry) or totally man made rock which was submarged in their tanks. It's almost sure it's not maricultured.

Definitely not cement. Just broke it into smaller pieces and from the looks of it, it's ocean rock. For its size, it's very light weight and weighs just under a pound. It is extremely porous and did have worms in the crevices.

It does. Looks like a bunch of tunnels and tunes on the other side where it's flat.

Googled pukani rock and it looks like that might be it. The lfs only said it was old ocean rock. I grabbed it on the bottom and believe these pieces are what they use to seed the man made life rock that's stored on top of this type of rock.

I have a new tank full of pukani from a tank tear down, the pukani would be coming from an old tank tear down. A lot of the rock in my LFS takes in the rock, cleans it up and sells as live rock.

Your looking at it wrong, in the first picture you can clearly see an old coral skeleton . It is upside down. The tunnels give it away.

It's an ancient coral skeleton. Probably an old pocillipora and it died in the ocean and then something encrusted over the top of it and then that died then it rolled around in a lagoon until some guy picked it up and sold it for $1.25. then it ended up in the bottom of another guy's tank in 2001. Then he broke down in 2003 and it's been sitting at your local fish store since then...

It's name is Fred.
