What type of scorpionfish is this?

my LFS has this little guy. Can’t tell what species tho.

Yellow spotted scorpionfish (Sebastapistes cyanostigma), very cool little scorp.

He doesn’t seem nearly as colorful as some of the photos of yellow spotted scorps I’ve seen online. Is one gender brighter or something? Also, I’m still ticked my waspfish died, he was a model citizen. Are yellow spotted scorps model citizens or will they act like true predators towards their neighbors?

Like many scorps their coloring will be individual, as well as influenced by mood and general health, so you really can't judge them at the lfs. I'm not sure how you equate a "model citizen" to a "true predator", a predator is what they are, and it's what to be expected. These guys get to about 4" and are deadly, maybe the quickest I've seen and will eat what they can fit in their mouth. In any community tank you must house them with appropriate tank mates that they can not eat.
