What type of snail is this?

Kind of hard to tell but might be a Nassarius Snail.

Assuming it is not a nassarius (which you would have added purposely) it is likely a whelk. They go after other snails and clams so if it comes out again take it out so you can observe and ID it.

We did buy these purposely. I just don't remember if they were actually nassarius'.
