What type of snail please?

I am sure I have maybe hundreds of these in my tank. They seem to stay relatively small, like 1/4” maybe 3/8 at the most. Any idea as to what they are? I am hoping@ISpeakForTheSeas can see this. If they are bad, I will never get them all out, they don’t seem to bother anything but very invasive.

do you have some clearer pics? The shell pattern is making me think nerite, but if you have hundreds could be trochus. In either case, good guys for CuC although if you have a rimless tank, nerites will occasionally escape.

Hopefully @ISpeakForTheSeas can come in and help me with this. Definitely not a nerite, the shell is very smooth, and almost shiny, and they seem to stay very small. But my tank is LOADED with them

Definitely not NErite. And just so you know, the tank doesn't need to rimless for them to escape! I have an Aqueon rimmed tank and they commit suicide all the time. I find them on my floor. Sometimes they are still a bit wet, I put them back in, and they are okay, but mostly just dried out.

My guess would be some kind of Collonista or relative; there are a bunch of species in the genus/family, though, and I'm not sure which it would be (1/4" or slightly larger is pretty big for the genus; I don't know if it's big for other genera in the family though).

Thank you for the quick reply. Are they okay in a tank, or should I try to remove as much as possible? There are so many I will never get them all. I do not like killing any kind of creature, but If it is necessary, then so be it.

Ah, sorry, yeah - Collonista snails are good CUC and reproduce freely in our tanks. So, they're keepers.

The only issues I've heard these causing is sometimes they might climb into equipment in the tank (like filters, plumbing, etc.) and clog it up - even that's not a terribly common problem though, and it can be remedied easily enough with some fine mesh.

Ah, sorry, yeah - Collonista snails are good CUC and reproduce freely in our tanks. So, they're keepers.

Same here! I even have a screen on my tank, and they pop past that. I've avoided ordering them since the first batch. I hate to find them dead, and I don't like wasting money on something that's going to ultimately leave the tank.
