What type of snail

Look up Nassarius snails to see if you have a match.
That is my first guess from your picture, but it is hard to confirm under blue lighting and without more angles for a better ID.

If it is a nassarius snail, they like to burrow in the sand and have a long siphon like a snorkel.

That is most likely a whelk... NOT a good guy. Nassarius snails are in the whelk family and are the only whelks you want in your tank. Yours looks more like a mud whelk or other predatory whelk. Hopefully you find it and can remove it from the tank.

Thank you very much, it’s snorkel is kinf of pink little dots. Hopefully I can find him again, where should I be looking for him, rock work at night?

I agree, the shell definitely looks more smooth and egg-shaped than I've seen on nassarius snails.

It's not a nassarius snail (shell is too different). Quite possibly a dove snail - if so, good cleanup crew member!

Nassarius snails are actually not in the whelk family (buccinidae), but in in the family nassariidae. However, nassariidae is in the superfamily buccinoidea, which contains the family buccinidae.

You are correct, I was using the term "family" in the common manner, not as a taxonomic category.

It’s a dove snail, strombus grazer, aka nano conch. These guys are awesome little algae eaters and will reproduce well. Their egg cases are clear with around 6-8 tiny white specs. 100% reef safe and a great addition to your CUC.
