That’s what I thought but I’ve never had them breed in my tank before. And when I say breed I mean there’s like over 100 tiny snails in my sand bed and rocksLooks like a Cerith to me.
Could be, nassarius snails aren’t supposed to reproduce in the tank and these in my tank sure looked like they did. Came flying out of the sand with the adults. Sorry for the poor pics

They are either periwinkle zig zags or planaxis snails if they came in from live rock from the gulf/carribean area. Check reef cleaners, they sell the smaller ones. I threw them into one of my orders.I had a few of these long black shelled snails come in some live rock that have in the past month or so multiplied like crazy. Their body looks white or tan and they all have the same pointy black shell. Anyone have any idea what they are? Thanks

Correct, Cerith lay eggs but when they hatch they have a planktonic free swimming larvae stage, so 99% likelihood of getting filtered out or eaten. Live born snails are the only ones that really consistently grow out in home reef tanks (I’ll leave the caveat of those people that run tanks with no filtration/skimmers).
