What types of fish can be caught local?

I know we have yellow tangs and i have a juvinile french angel, and we have damsels. What else do we have locally?

I hope to see this thread get hits. I'm in Tampa and would love to see what's in the Gulf. I also collect hermit crabs from the gulf, would be good to know what other inverts are out there.

I haven't seen blue legged hermits not the banded coral shrimp. Banded coral shrimp isn't something I would want in my tank and I think blue legged hermits might be more far out than I ever go. I stay around need to waist deep most of the time.

Flame scallops are definitely short lived filter feeders. The blue leg hermits are basically exposed on mixed sand and rubble flats on low tide and all over certain beaches. Coral banded I wouldn't recommend for reef tanks. The skunk cleaners which are also found out here are nice . Now, the scarlet red leg hermit is harder to find and are usually out on the reef, shells covered in coralline. Anyone have any luck finding the Scarlet's?

I am pretty sure if I looked hard enough I could find Lionfish in Lake Erie......they seem to be everywhere lol.

If I could catch a Swiss guard or Royal Gramma I would lose it. I think ive seen Royal Gramma once out at Sebastian Inlet. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near there anymore "Well technically two hours away now, but not worth the trip imo".

I've also seen Cardinals out there.

I'm going to try a place out near Clearwater and then Fort Desoto Park, down by St Petersburg. I've read Fort Desoto has alot of diverse life.
