What WAS this crab?

I found this guy in my LR, I now know where all my fish were disappearing too... He had hairy legs. He's now out playing in the snow in the driveway..

LOL it was ugly but kinda cool in a crabby way, I told my kids it was Mr Crabs... He was pretty big too at almost 4" tip to tip.

Although they are cute crabs, I believe that that is a gorilla crab which are not so cute. They are definitely not something that you want in your tank. They commonly eat anemones, clams, zoas, and other inverts. I have read about them even eating fish but I think those ones were full adults. In all seriousness, I had one of these guys too, and he killed and ate a trio of Firefish. When I finally found him, I stabbed him with a bbq skewer. haha.

He is big but the golden rule is with crabs that hair is bad so it's good that it's out.

He was the second crab that I found in my rock that was a hitchhiker. They are spendy hitchhikers at that too!
