What was your first coral?

Thanks. Both pics are both halfs of the colony of that tiny frag.

That is amazing!! What a beautiful tank you have!

What is that there below the arch?

I'm sorry, but this actually just made me laugh. Very good to know! Crossing another one off of the 'potential stock' list.... Hahaha
Seriously, they're fine if you treat them like that weed tree you put in your front yard to hide the spot where you put your garbage cans and/or the yellow spots in the lawn where your pets pee ALL THE TIME. It works brilliantly until the roots start to break into the foundation of your house.

High flow + high nutrients + Kenya Tree in a nano tank = Audrey II/the Alien/The Thing

My first coral was a hammer. Not the easiest of LPS to keep but easy enough. It didn't die despite my learning curves lol.

If you get anything that grows like "weeds" to see how your "blue thumb" is, just isolate it on it's own rock.

Zoa's are a REALLY great first coral, just get one that's super colorful and you'll never regret it. If you're worried about spreading isolate it.

Elegance Corals are also easy and cool, you can keep them straight in the sandbed.

Otherwise, Blasto's are relatively easy as well and hardy, and don't grow like weeds at all.
Thank you very much for the suggestions!

I love hammers, I just haven't found 'the one,' I suppose. The Elegance and blastos are beautiful! Looks like the blastos come in some pretty neat colors as well...Hmmmmm

First coral was a green polyp mushroom. Softies can be underrated sometimes!

Favites pentagona(war coral), Rasta Zoas, gsp. Had them all for years.

I have only one coral, a green star polyp frag, in my 20 gal tank. It has been there for 3 months. The polyps are open every day but it does not grow larger. There are also four fish and a CUC all doing well. Tank is 6 months old. Parameters test out OK. I hesitate to add more coral without seeing some growth from the GSP. I guess I do not consider the GSP a success since it does not grow.

a red acro, yes I’m weird. No it didn’t die.
I don’t have that tank anymore but here’s a photo of the one I started in Jan- 3 months ago. I make it a point to challenge what people say.
