what was the first reef tank you had?
Mine was a 29 gallon I picked up back in 2001. It had a canister filter, hang on the back skimmer and power compacts. It was a ok system until I had a malfunction in the skimmer and it dumped water all over my floor. I only had it for about 6 months and decided to upgrade to a drilled 150 gallon.

Also had a 29 gallon, set up around the same time. Hang on back filter, skimmerless, 4 t8 bulbs until I upgraded to PC. Started with dead coral and volcanic rock that got upgraded to live rock slowly as I could only afford a little bit at a time. First invert was an aptasia that came on a piece of lava rock I got from a friend. I thought it was awesome and wondered when it would be big enough to host my 3 clowns. Took me a while to figure some things out.

Mine was an 8g biocube. Even had the protein skimmer. Loved all the inverts more than the cardinals, wrasse, devil blue damsel (never again). Kept it 3-4 yrs until upgrade to the 29 biocube. Thought that was the best thing ever. Now I’m on a WaterBox 230. Loving it all still

This was at the 2 year mark(2002) right before the upgrade/move.

38 gallon with a 20 long sump with CPR overflow/skimmer, refuge section with 4" DSB and caulerpa.

Lighting was a 175 watt MH(6500K) with PC actinics, refuge lit with 6500K Lights of America PC bulb.

I think I had a clownfish and a mandarin.

5.5 gallon with small HOB filter that had a built in skimmer bulb lighting kept running for about 3-4 years before I upgraded to a 40g way back in 1999

My first was a 15 high fake oak wood grain.

Back in 94

I had a 20 gl tank for a science project. I was going to prove that oysters could keep an aquarium filtered . That was 1979 . Didn't work out so well ! LOL
