Hello everyone! Some of you may know I recently added a scooter dragonet to my 105 gallon softie reef tank. After going through therapeutic copper. It was eating pellets at the shop before purchase.
While my dragonet eats brine shrimp and blood worms, it also eats pellets which I always try to feed it daily. Something which I’ve found very useful is the omega one slow sinking pellets. Not the small ones, but the “extra small” size which are the same size as fine sand. This is because a sprinkle of them will slowly float to the bottom. My other fish will pick at them as the float down. But I found once in the sand they were harder to see and my other fish tended to ignore/miss most of them. This gives me dragonet ample time each day to just spend 10-15mins picking through the sand getting all the pellets. I’ve been watching it eat carefully and it does indeed have the ability to distinguish these tiny pellets from the sand and eat them up. I also think the small size may convince it to eat cause they’re closerin size to pods, it doesn’t touch the regular “small” sized pellets, just ignores them.
