So I cooked dead rock for a year using LC to help with the leaching phosphate. Rock is now in the display and I just got a maxed out test on the Hanna. But I ran 3 additional tests and the came back low like the readings I was expecting. Also I had this issue last week before I put the rock in the display. Any thoughts, could it be a dirty test tube?

Every once it awhile I have something similar happen with Hanna ULR. I suspect contamination or degredation of the reagent package but it could be a dirty vial, ????? Usually the bad test is screaming high with P and unexpected. That you got 3 lower values subsequently suggests some problem with the blues.

Yea i almost threw out the rock n just whent with live rock. Do u think it’s ok to dose LC in the display if I need 2?

Just Rodi not tank also
I had a similar problem a while back and, my reagent was expired. BUT I clean my vile's with RODI after I use them, then fill with RODI to store. helps keeps it cleaner.
Also, before I test, I rinse 2 times with tank water to make sure that there is no RODI left to throw off the test.

Some folks dose Lc directly into the tank, others drip into a 5 micron sock to catch precipitate. I have been using Tropic Marin ElimipPhos Rapid lately and have not seen any issues with fishes or other things in the reef.

I just ordered Julian Sprung's "Refugite" to see how that works for keeping P low and stable. ElimiPhos is ok but I would like something that keeps the levels steady low instead of bouncing around while I wildly feed fishes and corals.

I'm more persuaded by the 3 low results than the one off- the-charts.
In my experience, some contaminations can be very hard to rinse away, and that's my likely bet explanation.

Doesn't take much when you're talking parts per billion! 0.00000001 mL in 10ml vial
