What would happen if I made my ocellaris touch my haddoni? If they aren't going to host it , then they are gone and I will get clarkii or something that's host carpets

If you force the clown to be hosted? Given that that isn't a natural combination, I wouldn't be surprised if the clown was eaten by the S. haddoni.

Agreed, but placing them together in a small space could help assist the natural symbiosis take over even if it is not a natural match in the wild.

The problem is that there won't be a natural symbiosis with this pairing. Given how strong of a sting that an S. haddoni have, I would never risk putting any clown (( even an A. polymnus, which is naturally hosted by S. haddoni )) in a confined space with one, the risk is too great.

That's what I was thinking. I read somewhere that clarkii is the best for haddoni. Also read that it could possibly eat the clowns you wanted it to host. Just double checking with people who have more knowledge. Anyway you can think to get them to check it out? Should I just trade them in and order clarkii? I've never had the nem to eat anything I didn't feed it yet, but the girl I bought him from said he was a killer! It ate several of her fish.

He is pretty good size. Would love to see some clowns sliding around in there.

How long have the O's and S. haddoni been together?

Over the years I have had the following clowns hosted by an S. haddoni;
A. clarkii
A. polymnus
A. percula
A. perideraion
A. sandaracinos
A. melanopus.

In all the cases I did nothing -- just let the clowns find the anemone. Some took minutes, others took a couple of months.

Ive seen ocellaris host an S. haddoni for many years without any problems. I don't disagree that carpets will eat clowns i know it happens often. But the problem may not be as much the haddoni as it could be the captive bred ocellaris. I had a pair of occelaris for years before they figured out hosting in my RBTA forrest.

I am gonna keep my eyes open for some clarkii around here locally. I'm not just struck on the ocellaris. Just got them cause the kids wanted nemo. We already had a reef tank.
