What would you debunk/prove?

If you had the resources to debunk/prove any of the conceptions in the aquarium hobby, what would it be?

To actually quantify and put into study able form the nitrification cycle and how long it takes.

My most recent build thread is only 2 months old but at a stage newer reefers can’t attain for sometimes over a year.

In my very first year of reefing I never even got close to the same results in a year.

But there was no reason not too aside of knowledge.

I think there’s much more to the whole process and I’d love to be able to scientifically get to the bottom of it.

Nitpick: Anemones host clownfish, not vice versa lol.

This is an interesting one! Learning by watching...hmm...

Fascinating!

Oh those would be fun to debunk/prove!
Okay true sorry I had that backwards I stand corrected the anemone host the clownfish not vice versa hence the word host

Perhaps the anemone would like to watch videos too, people do play Beethoven for there plants. I think you're on to something.

I think you could reach out to Tim Hovanec about this! Here's his MACNA talk!

Which species of Asterina sea stars eat corals, and which do not.
There is somewhat a discussion of this happening on the thread for General discussion
I've never come across coral eating Asterinas, but this is fun! @Pistol Peet , can you link to the thread please?

I haven’t either. The ones I have are the mostly white ones. Apparently the “coral eaters” are more blue or brown.

I've never been totally satisfied with either side of the grounding probe debate. However, I'm no longer interested in reading about the subject, so I guess its not a good example.

I would like to see the impact of spectrum on a large group of the same corals frags at the same par with led, mh, and t5. Then compare the color and growth after 6 months.

That'd be interesting! Is it just wavelength spectrum? If so, you'd have to figure out how to keep intensity out of the equation, since a weak LED light wouldn't be able to compare with a strong MH light....
