Long story short, I transferred the contents of my 2+ yr old biocube to an IM40 back in May. I just had the chance to pick up a custom starfire 50g CAD tank (24*24*20)/stand with 6 bulb ATI. My original reason for buying was to use the stand and ATI for a frag tank (not the 50g). But, in reality I'm a ways from having the need for a frag tank at this point. And, when I do, I want to be able to plumb it into my main system. I'm not sure the dimensions of the 50 are what I want for a frag tank. I'd rather have a 24*24*12 or something like that.

So, I need to decide, do I transfer contents again from the IM40 to the 50 for the advantage of a slight gain in water volume once you factor in rock displacement. The sump that will fit under the stand can't be real big, as it's not a very big stand so overall volume gain will be...10 gallons? 15 maybe.

I can't decide if it's worth the work of the transfer or just leave well enough alone and sell off the tank.

So, what would you do? Help me out with ideas!

The chance is you going to a setback again.
Bigger is always better of course but you don't gain a whole with the 50.

Ugh, exactly my thoughts. Setting back the clock on the contents of the 40 for not a lot of gain.

But darn it, I keep wondering if I'd regret selling the 50 and never setting it up. I don't even know if that's a valid thought. lol

I wouldn't sell it.
If it is a nice tank just keep it.
You never know what the 40 is going through and if you have to break down and start over start over with the 50, but that can be a while of course.
I have a 200 gallon and could get a bigger tank fairly cheap, I always wanted to upgrade my 200 but never got to it so that said the 1500 is sitting in my shop collecting stone dust :(

I bought an IM Lagoon 25 for a frag tank, but feel that will be hard to plumb into my main tank eventually, so I might have to move that along, though I love the dimensions of it and am tempted to keep it too. But honestly, how many empty tanks do I need? lol
