Noticed that I’ve been battling to keep my alk at 7.0 and above (it’s normally rock solid at 7-7.4dkh) I’ve been fighting to keep it above 7.0dkh over the last week.
I dose both Alk + Ca in equal parts.
Checked Ca today and it’s 504 (Hanna checker)
This, I guess is the reason im fighting to keep the alkalinity within range

So, do I just dose Alk tonight and allow the Ca to drop ‘naturally’ or do I dose less calcium tonight?

Thanks
Emma

Hi Emma,

What are you currently dosing to replenish alk and calcium? 2 part, kalkwasser, water changes? You can dose just alk solution to bring it up and let calcium fall on it's own with 2 part :)

Hi.
I’m using the Redsea foundation liquid supplements at the moment.
I’ll just dose the alkalinity tonight then (and for the next few nights)
And re check the calcium in a few days or so?
Thanks

Do you know what your consumption is currently? I'd dose, test, and then test again a day later

My alkalinity usage is approximately 0.2/day.
Dose the calcium also do you mean?
Emma
Sorry, I meant test, dose to bring up your alk. And then test again a day later . Let calcium come down on it's own:)

Oh ok I see.
I checked the alk about 10 minutes ago, it’s at 7.0dkh. I’ll dose just the alkalinity tonight and take it from there

Thanks once again .

No problem:)
I run into a similar issue every once and a while where my alk will be where it needs to be and calcium will be tanked, so I have to dose calcium to bring it up to where it should be. Been using BRS 2 part for a few years now.
