I'm considering adding a wrasse to our 350gal/8' tank and I'm looking for advice on good candidates. The tank is very peaceful and I want to keep it that way. I also want the colors to be striking, so I'm less keen on a wrasse with the same coloration that I already have. Our current inhabitants are:

Orange back wrasse 5"
Melanurus wrasse 4"
Blue flasher wrasse (juvenile or female)

and

Naso tang
Purple tang
Desjardini tang
Yellow tang
4 Lyretail anthias
Copperband butterflyfish
Foxface Lo
2 Darwin ocellaris clownfish
1 blue neon goby
orange stripe prawn goby
2 ORA orchid dottybacks
Pair of zebra barred dartfish

If you have sand you should take a look at an Earmuff Wrasse (Halicheores melasmapomus) or a Canary Wrasse (Halicheores chyrus) or a Radiant Wrasse (Halicheores iridis) if you want a bit more of a challenge.

Leopard and Tamarin Wrasses would also be very beautiful but are a bit harder to keep alive at the start but then they became pretty hardy.

A few of my favourites there include:

Potter's Wrasse (Macropharyngodon geoffrey)
Blue Star Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon bipartitus)
Black Leopard Wrasse (Macropharyngodon negrosensis)
Red Tail Tamarin (Anampses chrysocephalus)
Yellow Tail Tamarin (Anampses melagrides)

evolved has some great articles at the top of the fish threads if you want to look more in depth and what would work peacefully.

Have fun picking so many options :)

I have a 2-3" sand bed. Every now and again one of the wrasses will dive into it and thrash around, creating a mini dust storm. It's fascinating to watch.
