This is day 12 after receipt of my Maxima clam. I purchased a 1st grade Blue/Turquoise Aquacultured clam. I've upped the lighting to 400 PAR for several days now, fed him green phyto and this is the way he looked when received and the way he looks today which is day 12 after receipt. Basically no change in color. Nothing close to the image of what I thought I had purchased.

On the positive side... He looks perfectly healthy and happy. No parasites (that I can see), no gaping or any other signs of stress.

Me thinks he's a happy brown clam... :-) However I'm not a happy brown clam owner... :-(

PS: Ignore the algae tint of the rock and background. The mantel colors are adjusted to show what it actually looks like. I've tried many shades of actinic, 10,000k light etc. He looks brown regardless the lighting.

I just ordered a replacement.... And yes, I've done a lot of calling and emailing already... Here's the short and sweet of the order notes...

"I just placed a replacement order for a new clam. You can have the brown clam back as I have no use for him. Just send me a prepaid UPS label and I’ll wrap him up, along with the rubble he’s attached to.

The replacement order is: Order Number: A30******

Here are the Order Comments:
Note that this is a replacement for the clam I ordered (Ref: Order A30*****). On this previous order I ordered a 1st grade Blue/Turquoise clam for $59.99 and ended up with a brown clam as you can see in the notes for the referenced order. I want you to eat the shipping and charge me the difference of $20 + Tax. Call me if this is a problem.. 256 ******** I've already wasted 12 days trying to turn a brown clam into the blue/turquoise clam that I thought I had purchased. Thank you.. FH Please apply my credit on file to order.

PS: Yes I know the first order was NOT a WYSIWYG… HOWEVER… The “What” I got has to “resemble” in some form or fashion what you shipped me. Simply tearing a brown clam loose from his perch and shipping it to me as a replacement for a blue/turquoise clam won’t work."

I received word from LiveAquaria this morning... They have acknowledged that they sent me the wrong clam and are shipping me a replacement at no charge. This is how a company should treat a problem. Kudos to LiveAquaria.

Yea, as a tip always contact the vendor first, human error does happen and places like LA are quick to fix it. Also unless you order from divers den LA is not a WYSIWYG vendor. Glad they fixed it so fast for you!
