I have been in and out of the saltwater aquarium hobby since the early 90`s. This last year has been a complete failure for me as far as fish go. Call me a glutton but I have been buying my fish from one specific LFS and 7 out of 10 fish have not made it. I QT each fish, I do not put multiple fish in the same QT to avoid treating 2 fish with different issues. I think its time to look for a different supplier. The LFS does not warranty his fish more than 48 hours and unfortuniately where I live there are not too many places that carry saltwater livestock.

Who have you had luck with that you would recommend I use to purchase Reef Safe live stock from?

Thanks for the input.

If you do a search here on R2R you'll find quite a few threads on this subject.

Pretty much this. Lots of people order from various places so do a bit of searching and see what feedback you may get.

Side note - I've ordered with 95% success rate from LA/DD. Lt. Tang, Lavender Tang, and Scopus Tang. Also a pair of clowns. I ordered a Purple Tang and it didn't make it 24 hours. So overall pretty good success rate. I've also nabbed a few corals and cleanup members. So overall I'm happy with them.

I've also ordered a captive raised Matted Filefish and a Yellow Assessor from Pacific East Aquaculture. Excellent fish and 100% success rate (2 for 2 :) ). In any case both arrived on the smaller side of things but released into the display tank very well eating anything I put in there.

I have a few rules when I order though. Check weather. I typically do not order mid winter or summer. Too hot or cold not to mention possible shipping issues. Especially around holidays. No no for me. I know I didn't answer specfically or have a wider range of purchases but I don't buy a lot but those two have always been ok with me. After the first of the year I'll be placing another order from Pac East - a small goby.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the info and the advice.

Just to second LA/DD, I've been ordering from them for 11+ years, everything from fish to CUC to macro algae to frozen food. Their customer service is great. I've had very few casualties over the years.

++++ on the weather comments!!! This is a must, in my opinion!! I remember people losing a lot of livestock with FedEx/UPS being grounded during a snow/ice storm. Just so sad!!
