So I'm kinda of new to this forum and not new to the hobby but I have never used a test kit in my life and after 5 years have lost my first coral (bleeding apple scolly) so I decided I'll take advantage of cyber Monday and purchase a test kit. Is there one in particular I should stray from? Is there one that is just amazing? I would love to know thanks NCFisher

Honestly, it depends on the test. Each manufacture has some that are good and some that suck.
For ammonia, any cheap kit will do.
For nitrates, alkalinity, calcium and magnesium I like the Red Sea Pro test kits, after trying pretty much every major brand. The latter three come together in one kit.
I also like Hanna Checkers for Alkalinity and Phosphorous (phosphate). Going to try the Calcium one next.
