what's a rainbow acan?

i guess the easy way to answer this is, an acan with the colors red,orange,blue. is normally called random

I would have to say most people consider a acan polyp with at least four colors in it a rainbow and a few say the polyp has to have six colors in it. Got to love them acans.

Its a acan that looks like it cost a pot of gold, usually its got red orange yellow green blue in it. just beautiful

Many people define this different some say four colors some say six. I mean if I think of the word rainbow I think of more than that but I would say anything above 4 would be, I just feel like a four tones piece isn’t enough because most the time two or four of the colors are different shades of the same color.

sorry for the bad picture, its all i had on my laptop. This is my Rainbow acan i hope it helps you out with the description of what rainbow means. I was once told that rainbow means 3 or more colors but i truely believe it needs to be 4 or more colors. Great pix btw

I woudl be surpised of it was more then a head a month most nicer corals or high end things dont sprout leggs and take off becaus eyou get thgem so small

started with 1 1/2 heads long time ago. couldnt get them to grow at all. started to feed them and 8 more head popped up with 6months. it was awesome. got lazy again and stopped feeding them and they stopped growing. this thread here might have sparked my interest in feeding them again

thanks for the input and kind comments guys. mimic love that rainbow. i got a piece with 3 heads right now trying to growout. feeding it every 2 days but it's growing way slower than the rest of the other 'cans.

isnt though that a lot of acans contain more color than you can see you just have to get them in the perfect place and then they will start adding colors so you could have a plain acan get it in the right lighting and will color up to being a rainbow?

It was my colony....Sold half to a reefer in Mexico and he lost it after a couple weeks. The other half was in my buddies tank and he had a power failure about a year ago and lost it as well. I really kicked myself for never keeping a couple polyp frag for myself.

To this day I havent seen anything come close to the beauty this thing was

Not sure if this gets qualified by some as a rainbow, I've never thought of it as one, but most do when they see it. Got it from Ian @ Reef Oddessey as a 3 polyp frag, need to frag it up and/or get it onto a bigger frag plug soon. Has some nice colors though, purple, orange, red, and orange. The pups also have some yellow in them, so curious what would happen if I put it under better lighting.
