Whats been easiest, Nano, Medium or large sized tank?

I've had small tanks from 20 gallons up to 150 gallon. My 150 by far has been the easiest to maintain and keep corals and fish healthy and thriving. I some times wonder if its the size or the experience that has made me more successful as I have upgraded. Whats your experiences?

25 Lagoon.

The 25 gallon tanks seem to be my sweet spot. I've had probably 7 0r 8 tanks over the past 15 years.

I think budget plays a large role in this because nano’s can be difficult but if it is fully automated with ATO, dosing pumps, etc. its easier than latger builds( smaller water changes, less glass to clean, etc). The 40-80 gallon range in my opinion is the easiest there is. Theres enough water volume to keep things stable. I also look at my budget when thinking about this. I would rather have a 40 gallon covered in 50 frags top to bottom with top notch equipment than a 200 gallon with OK equipment and 50 frags scattered everywhere.

As far as things taking place in your tank you would not like.... a large tank takes much longer for something to get out of control and therefore gives you the opportunity to get it back in line before it gets ugly.

It’s all about water volume. The larger the water volume the easier it is to maintain stability of the chemistry of your water. Small tanks have stability issues because a small change in chemistry is really large in a small volume of water.

I personally think a 120 gallon is pretty ideal. Water volume wise is is plenty for stability. Physical size wise it is great. Not too big, not too small. Height and depth are good for aquascaping. Big enough for a sump and space underneath. Big enough for colonies to grow out. Big enough for some larger fish.
