I have some typical ricordia that have all but shrunk down to nothing. I have two yumas that are doing just fine. Are the ricordias more sensitive to light?

I'll. Give it a shot today and move some rock around to try and give them a little more shade

Several years ago I had a beautiful Ricordia garden of about 65 polyps. Over time a few polyps started to shrink. It then spread to every polyp and they all continued to shrink until they were gone. I'm not sure if it was a nutritional issues or a disease. I had them for about 2 years before they started melting away. One of my LFS, Phishy Business had a huge area in their large display with several hundred rics. Over time they had the same thing happen.

One of my favorite corals but I won't keep them anymore.

I've also had them shrink up, turn white, and melt away because they were recieving too little light. My monti caps had grown up and shaded them too much. Once I removed some of the monti cap and reexposed them to light, those that had not completely melted began to come back.

Very dissapointing if I can't save these guys. They are in pretty direct lighting so I'm hoping a little adjustment will help them.

Maybe water quality? I just recently put one in a pico tank that is very wishy washy and it shrunk a bit. That's the only other thing I can think of...

I'll get the levels in a bit. Moved the rock so shrooms are more indirect.

I have always said ricordea is harder than everyone thinks. It will be fine for years and then all of a sudden dieing and nobody knows why. I had this happen to me a few years ago. I had to get rid of the tank to get it to stop. Never knew why.
