As the title says, I have really slacked on my maintenance and think I'm going to start concentrating on it. I have an ato and doser to add alk,ca, mag so those are pretty stable. Skimmer cup I clean about once a month, water change every 2-3 months or longer.

What's a normal maintenance schedule? Im thinking clean skimmer once week, 20% waterchange every two weeks.

You’ll probably get both sides of the fence. People who regularly (weekly and bi weekly) preform maintenance and others who do on a as needed based.

My tank is fish only for now. I have 1 hammer coral but I don’t dose.

My ATO reservoir seems to need to be filled weekly.

Filter socks and Skimmer twice a week.

I have a ATS running three weeks now and I will clean tomorrow for first time.

Water changes every two weeks but they have been small (by percentage).

My system is about 250 gallons.

Depends on the tank really.

20 gallon QT, that's filled with 10 gallons of water? 100% water change around every 2-4 days to keep the fish not swimming in unmetabolized water. No need for topoff, since it's a 100% water change.

55 gallon display tank? Do a 15 gallon water change every week, during which, clean the skimmer cup and switch out the filter cup. Top off with water pre water change if the water level is too low. The fish are fed heavily, so it's important to get the 25% water change in every week, but they're okay with a week or month without water changes.

10 gallon macroalgae tank? Add water as necessary for topoffs, do a water change whenever I feel like it, feed with brine shrimp hatchery hatch water when possible to "dose" waste products.

Mine is a 75gal, I typ clean out the skimmer cup when its close to full, but I've noticed that after its clean it seems to work better. I also have a lot of detrius in my sump. There really isn't an easy way to vac it out, so I am going to try building a vac. I ordered a small pump that has 2x barb fittings, going to run the discharge into a water filter housing then into my filter sock. I think removing this will also be beneficial to the tank health. I also have a large amount in the bottom of my overflow chamber that I will be able to vac out.

I have a 20 gallon cube and try to do %10 water change weekly. Change filter floss on a needed basis, weekly or more as of late. Deep clean all once a month.
