So I got this toadstool back in Jan and until about 3 weeks ago was doing great. Always open and full of color. About 3 weeks ago my clowns noticed it and began hosting. Well after about 4 days of this the toadstool closed up, shrank, and has been like this. Now it looks like it is starting to turn white. Is it dead and should I get it out of the tank? I know they shed but this don't seem normal. All my other corals including my other leather are doing great. My last water check is in the pics. The clowns now have a bubble tip they are in love with.

It's not dead. They often do that when something is bothering them. Give it time, it should be OK

Update on my toadstool. Still not opening up. This is recent photos taken today. It still feels soft and no smell but just looks off.

I meant, did you change the flow prior to the leather coral changing?
No, it was doing great until my clown started hosting it. Then in closed up and shrank down. That was over a month ago. You can see from the photos in the post the gradual change in color over the last month. All my parameters are in check and all my other corals including my other leather are doing great.

have you tried a dip in coral Rx? might have something bugging it. mine loves heavy flow, but some like moderate flow.
is that browning shiny? it might just need to sluff off

It is kind of shiny. I was thinking maybe it was shedding but it went from its normal color to almost looking like it was bleaching. Now it has this dark brown color to it. I do have a bottle of coral rx I can try this weekend. The area it's in has a moderate to heavy flow.

Your leather is basically like "what the heck, why ya'll all of a sudden rubbin' on me like this and that?" At some point, it'll get use to it and say "whatever. Do as you please since I can't move from my location." It'll open back up. No action needed.

Well I got a bubble tip and the clowns moved on to that, now they don't go near the leather.

Little update. I move the leather the other day to a area of high flow. While I was moving it I noticed under regular lighting it was covered in green algae. I took a toothbrush and gently got the algae off. Went to look at it this morning and it's shedding! Also some of the Polyps are starting to show again.
