Any idea what these little tubes are growing off the base of my frogspawn? They are hard tubes. I don't know how frogspawn reproduce so I'm not sure if this is the skeleton creating new branches or if it is some sort of tube worm. If it isn't part of the FS I am going to clip them off because I'm worried the flesh is being poked as it sways in the current and I don't want to cause damage. There was 1 and now there are 3

Feather dusters. Friendly

I have tons of feather dusters all over my tank and none of them look like this. There are no worms I ever see visible. I was thinking a tube worm cause sometimes I see a stringy web like substance around the FS sometimes. If it's just a worm it's getting cut off cause they are very small and almost pointy. Afraid the FS has been poking himself on them as he has opened less since they've shown up. Still opens, just not as fully as before

Yeah my bad, I don't know what I was thinking lol. I have those snails and they are annoying.
Looks like a vermetid snail. Break the tube and it's gone. They irritate corals with a line of mucus they "fish" for food with.

I have tons of them to. Although despite what I've heard about them annoying coral I haven't seen this in my tank....yet anyway.

Vernetid snails! That's it. That's what I was thinking but I couldn't remember what they were called to try and ID them. That's def what they are. Getting cut off tonight! I know it's bugging the coral cause as I've said, since I've seen them the coral hasn't opened as fully. And I just found the mucus all over my gorgonian today. Looks like my bone cutters and I are gonna be doing some work tonight! Thanks guys!

Should I just break off with my hand or use a razor to scrape off the base? Won't hurt the skeleton by scraping him off there will I?

+1 on vermitid good call Coastie Reefer. Sign of healthy tank, Ive heard they can cause minor irritation, but I let them be too.

As long as there's no flesh there it won't. I try to do it with my fingers. Sometimes they come right off sometimes it just breaks

It'll take a while to find out. Oregon torts are achingly slow growers. But the snails seem to be losing lol

That sucks. Was it very big? I would have been upset if it was.

It was already losing the battle when i bought the frag. I could just make out the tip and the tubes opening. I was wondering how that was going to work out. Cyphastrea grows fast!
