What's growing on my snail?

This turbo snail has been growing hair algae on his back for months, it's been quite fun to watch it grow. The other day I noticed this long green stalk coming out of his bush. Is this something I should remove? It kind of resembles bryopsis but not quite. Thanks!

Also: there's a radial -shaped fan at the end of the filament (tough to see in the pics)

Interesting; I would have guessed vermetid snail which do grow on other snail's shells and the fan would be its sticky web for catching food, but I've never seen one this long before.

the snail i is letting it's hair down & watching some program on dish TV .
Seriously though it's HA & a type of algae. I have HA on snails& had the stalked stuff . It went away. Sorry can't remember the name .

Wow thanks cracker for linking that thread! Looks like an Acetabularia sp. Doesn't seem to be harmful either.
