What's happened to my FoxFace??

Hi all,

This morning I noticed my FoxFace has some scrapes on both sides of his body see pics. He seems normal and eating fine and is fat and happy. Any idea what this is? Did he scrape himself against the rocks in a tight space? Or are these stress marks?? Thanks!

They don't look like stress marks. What else do you have in the tank?

I have a blue tang, Scopus tang, 2 Chromis, sleeper goby, malanurus Wrasse, butterfly fish, 2 clown fish, 2 cleaner shrimp, serpant starfish and a bunch of cuc. It has been a pretty peaceful tank to be honest I don't really see any aggression when feeding etc. They have all been together for at least 4-5 months now maybe 6.

Looks like hypermelanization to me. Looks like the poor thing scraped some rocks and its just healing dark.

although i'd keep an eye out for any signs of infection IE red, inflammation, swelling etc.

Ok ya that's what I thought to do thanks for confirming. What is recommended if it becomes infected in a tank full of other fish and coral?

If the wound becomes infected i'd remove the fish to a QT tank and possibly treat with antibiotics if you can
