I've had Hammer before but never noticed them extending their polyps before.
The one I have now is doing this. Is this normal? I mean their like 1/2" to an 1" in length. Looking like sweepers. And doing it only at lights out.

Its lookin for a meal there. Those are its sweeper tentacles per say.

So the polyps are actual sweepers also?

Mime does that as well. Euphyllia does not have separate sweeper/feeding tentacles. It just modifies its polyp tentacle to what it needs.

Had one would reach 6+ inches and sting other corals. Something to consider with final placement

Well I'll be!! lol. I would have been target feeding it but can't see a mouth like with my other LPS-lol. Poor lil thing must be smelling the Reef Frenzy as it floats by :)
Think I'll go give it a lil chunk right now! Thanks guys!

They do have a mouth. I target feed my euphyllia. Tun off pumps put frozen mixture as close to center of polyp and hungry mouth will soon expand to get it all in. They eat like any other LPS. They take mysis or any other frozen food. After eating they get happy and puff out the polyps.

Mine did the same thing trying to kill the favia nearby and did kill the half of it

Definitely sweeper tentacles. Looks like it is prepping for battle against that Xmas Favia there. Favia also have sweepers of prodigical proportion and powerful sting.
