EcoTech Marine Introduces the Radion XR30w LED Light
*
September 1, 2011, Bethlehem PA – EcoTech Marine is proud to announce its latest product, the Radion XR30w LED light.

True to EcoTech Marine design standards, the functionality of Radion matches its sleek aesthetic. Created with the most discerning hobbyist in mind, the Radion includes top quality Cree and Osram LEDs and features fully adjustable color and intensity.

"The Radion represents what we believe will be the next step for aquarium lighting: a smarter, easier to use, and more energy efficient alternative to existing lighting products," said Tim Marks, president of EcoTech Marine. "Our hope is that our customers will enjoy the extensive thought and care put into the design of every feature, function, and the distinctive appearance of the Radion."

Radion was purpose-built to be upgradeable both through its modular driver and LED cluster design, modular optics, as well as its USB firmware.

"Our goal was to deliver a product with the ability to evolve and get better over time– and not become obsolete," said Marks. "As technology moves forward, the Radion will be upgraded with new functionality in addition to what it has right out of the box."

Radion is an innovative addition to the EcoTech Marine line of VorTech pumps and aquarium products. With advanced features packed into an efficient and stylish product, the Radion is an LED that looks every bit as good as it performs.

At those prices what i build seems very afforadable and IMO still better coverage!

Wait till you see the slick look.

I think its kind of cool to see how long they can run on the vortech backup battery.

If power is out I would think you would want all the power going to the pumps in an emergency not the lights

The Slick thing is that it would cost you over 2,500.00 to get less Led's over a 120gal tank that cost me around 750.00 to build myself with more Led's over a larger area that gives equal or better Par than those, The Slickness really does not grow SPS better, the Led's do and as far as how they look I am very happy with mine that cover my whole tank. Not just an 7" deep fixture like all the other commercial units out there that cram all the Led's into as small a fixture as possible for maximum profit. JMHO

If I had that kind of money, I'd go with ecotech. love all the fancy features. lol
but I don't, so I will stick with my own not so fancy DIY LED. :p

Wow... those are awesome. I love that the commercial guys are now beginning to include the Cree regular blues, greens, and reds. They always follow the DIY community it seems. I'm also not surprised that the only non-Cree LED on their fixture is the red one. Cree's red LEDs are RED. Good stuff!

I agree, teh price does seem very steep. it wont be on my wish list anytime soon no matter how slick it is.

But Kudos to them for being innovative and bringing new things to the market. I know alot of folks who dont feel comfortable making their own will jump all over this..

and bill,

Ill take one of them $750 LED's.

Dude, Do you work for free? It seems that these Co's out there are making tons of cash off these fixtures they have made in China for real cheap.
Your tank is larger than mine and would cost more to cover it correctly, And when you add Labor to it the price is still lower than the amount of these fixtures you will need to get it covered.
I would guess you would need at least 5 of these on a 180 or larger tank and that's a ton of money....
Bill

NO. I dont work for free... But I do deal with alot of importing from China every day at work. we import and domestically produce very heavy items every day.

Not as everyone is as handy as you and I may be, and this product is geared toward someone who wants a premade LED in a slick package. I also dont own a single product from thsi company simply for the fact that they are priced out of my budget. while I know they make a really nice powerhead, I still cannot justify the cost of it in my tank.

I may try and go with three LED pendants and supplement them with T-5 when I head that way.

Price may be a little steep, but you cant beat their customer service. I wonder how they'll integrate with the vortechs?

Looks like Aquarium Specialty just posted their pre order for the ecotech radion... Looks to be an interesting fixture. Seems like everyone is coming out with new stuff every other day but the quality they bring to the table is top notch. I just talked to Scott and they are supposed to be getting them at the end of Oct. or early November. Cheers!

I've been thinkin' about LEDs for my 20 gal. soft corals only tank. What would the cost be for something like that? 24x12x16 tank.
