Whats on my coral?

I just bought this clove polyp at my lfs and looks like there are leather coral like polyps growing on it and im not sure what they are. They recommended hydrogen dipping it as their is some algae on the frag but im wondering if the tentacles on the polyp are something bad. Thanks!

May be a rotted leather stem
Peroxide or iodine May revive it

It’s growing in the stalk of the clove polyp would that damage it or be bad for it?

While it should not, I would cut it at the base and discard if you dont want it, or replant it in the tank if you wish to try and save it
