What's on my zoa?

Hey guys and gals,

This little Zoa has been on a roller coaster. I got him and he had mites, I won that battle but he doesn't seem to be growing much. In the last month, I got this this white sponge looking thing on his frag. At first I thought it was his skeleton, but looks too porous. Any thoughts? Is it bad?

It could very well be a calcerous sponge

So is this zoa a lost cause? Or do I just remove the sponge?

I would just try and move the sponge if it impairing growth

Sponge. Scrape it or it will choke the polyps. You could try dipping it on hydrogen peroxide mixed with tank water.
