Hey what's that great thread on here with that commonly available aluminum pieces? It's a thread about using it to build stands. Can't remember what that stuff is called. It's actually what my 3d printer is made of. the frame is anyway:

nevermind. looks like it's t-slot.

lol

8020 to be specific. Great stuff and I just swapped out my old canopy for 8020 and couldn’t be happier. I also wouldn’t hesitate making a stand, but it’s not cheap. But at least it won’t break down like other materials.

Yep, I was all over that site last night. The question becomes, what color to make the pieces? The black is triple the price. The plain looks boring. Maybe paint the pieces black? I think white with white tanks would look dumb, but maybe not.

I think more people use Framing Tech. 8020 is the most expensive option out there. Their shipping is outrageous. Any scratch is going to show big time with black.

Good to know I'll check out Framing Tech.

80/20

Framing tech seems to have some nice options to make corner pieces with some of the sides closed off like this:

But there's no machining services available like 80/20. How do you even create a build without machining services?

I built my stand with brackets, hand tapped the ends of the bars, and used a drill press to create access holes. The machining service is more for the anchor fasteners that require boring a hole. There are plenty of ways to assemble without anchor fasteners.

I see good to know.

Try zyltech.com , I just ordered 4 pieces of 30x30mm 1200mm Long black rails for $75, including shipping.

I print mounts for all led brands for these rails, I also make the mounts for the ecotech RMS rail as well..
