I want to buy an Led lighting for my new cube 16x16x17 , it has to be dimmable and controllable , any help its welcome , I was thinking a radion but idk if it's overkill for this small tank ..

Do you mean you want the light to have a built-in controller, or that it has to be able to be controlled by a reef controller?

If built-in is what you want, save some moeny and get an EverGrow OR-IT2040 from OceanRevive. I've had one over my 70g hexagon anemone tank for just over a year now. I set it up with an 8 hour sunrise, an hour of midday and an 8 hour sunset (even the moonlight is adjustable). It's run 24/7 for 13 months and even Florida thunderstorm power outages haven't affected it. You can find it on sale for about a third of what the least expensive Radion sells for. I had one and sold it after 6 months. It runs hotter than I'd like and having to hook it up to a computer to adjust it is a giant PITA! Just my 2 cents. :tea:

Those demention are similar to what I have, I have ai nano running at 40%.

Sorry for the bad photos, just an iphone 4
Now I have had good growth with the bgm chalice (no othere chalice has made it), but it does sit on the bottom of the tank and it still has to much light, hence the color. The acans are middle the way up and they seems to like it there. I also have had sps and depending on what it is, it has done well. I have had this light since it came out, IMO there are pros and cons with this fixture as well with any fixture. My questions would be first what corals are you interested in and second are you looking for just blue and white, or more on color side.

my first choice would be to contact dave at nanobox.. best option hands down..

second choice would be a reefbreeders nova (layout is meant for cubes)..

Check out the maxspect razors, totally programmable and very sleek design.

Also look at the nano unless you want to upgrade the tank just go with r420r razor comes in 10000k,16000k. This is what I'm ordering in a few weeks for my 24x24x24 cube.

Ur tank looks good man , ist that light ur talking about controllable and dimmable ?

I picked up a Steve's led kit for my cube. 30x30x30. Getting their highest powered kit, pre-built with the controller is a few hundred less than a radion and I'm keeping quite a bit of SPS around the half way point in my tank.

I just looked at the maxspect nano razor and it looks good and very easy to mount the only thing it only has blues and whites , from everybodys experiences here , how do u get more grow on zoas , blues and whites only , or blues whites and colors ?

Full/Broad Spectrum fixtures not only add to the health of the Coral in providing more of the usable light spectrum but the also add more/different fluorescence to the Corals under it. Minimally I would suggest having 2-3 different Blues from 440-480nm range with 2-3 Whites to add at least a small amount of the warmer tones from Amber to Red and Violet 410-420nm. If you are planning a primarily high-end Z & P Reef you'll want to see all the colors I'd assume. In addition to the well suggested list above check out another of Sponsors fixture 'Reef Radiance's Lumentek Series' as well.

Cheers, Todd

thanks, yes this is a ai nano, I do have a controller for it. The fixture has worked very well, I wish it came in color, but putting a radion or hydra would be insane overkill. Also the ai nano comes with a stem to mount it on the tank.
