Im looking to buy a cheap ozonizer. I heard with carbon/ozone/skimmer there is the potential to remove 100% of doc.

Why do you think it would remove 100% of the DOC?

Why would you want too?
A skimmer will remove at best 30%-40% of doc. Carbon and ozone can remove the rest, ozone makes carbon work better aomehow. Read it in an article.

Know of any inexpensive ozonizers?

I run a Redsea Aquazone but don't think they make them anymore. I would not assume that the combination will come close to removing 100% or would I want to remove 100% of the DOC in my tank.

Do you have sponges that might use it? I dont want doc because its constantly being made anyways.

What is your budget for the ozonizer ?

Im not on a budget, but dont want to spend tons on a simple concept. But id like to keep it under 100$

Sponges are a great part of the aquarium ecosystem but they are just one of many organisms that feed on the DOC/TOC in our tanks. Some removal is good and I believe a skimmer provides just the right amount. I would not want 100% removal.

There are units sold on Ebay in the $40 - $90 range. You will need to consider at least an ORP monitor to set the output of the ozonizer. This units will give you an idea of what you can accomplish with ozone but I don't know how reliable they are. When you get serious about ozone use go with Ozotech.

FWIW, GAC alone is very efficient at removing DOC. Ozone will just help break it down more potentially making the GAC more efficient and potentially the skimmer less. I find injecting a normal amount of Ozone reduces the efficiency of my skimmer but adding very small amounts help increase the skimmer's performance.
