Whats the deal with Rasta's

My Rasta's seemed to be doing great growing then to all of a sudden close up and seem to be on the way out everything else in system is doing great is this a norm? if it is these little guy's are definatly overrated.

I had the same problem.
I picked up a 3 polyp frag that grew to 10.
Then died back to 3, and now are on a come back.

They are very slow growers, to lose 7 polyps.

I've had the same problem in the past thus why I no longer will spend the money on them! They are so bi-polar lol if corals can even be bi-polar!

i havent had any die off...just no growth.

I have had them close up for a few days before. I thought I added to much carbon but who knows. They are colorful little guys but are overrated IMO.

Its taken me two years to find the perfect place in my tank and now they are finally happy. They used to do the same thing for me, grow out, die off, grow out, etc. In my tank at least, 1/3 of the way up, low flow, protected by a rock outcropping seems to make them happy.

Whit makes them get the reddish look instead of the Brit green i see
in most pics. The ones i have was mostly a nice green but have started to tarn a reddish green,

Mine have never turned red.

I have a pic I took the other day not to long after they had opened after taking a few days off. I have one frag that does pretty well and another in a different tank that seems to do as others have mentioned. The ones that do well get good flow and not alot of light.

The pic shows how small they are because they are right next to some good sized zoas.

Maybe to much light i have them up high under 175 watt MH

i have my rastas in pretty good flow with it under 10" of MH, it looks good but I have 1 polyp growth in 3 months. They look sweet but the price I paid for 3 polyps was not worth the money I paid for them. But my expensive nemesis is purple hornets. They just don't like me.
