Whats the difference between the RLSS R8-U and the RLSS R8-I? I see there is a significant price difference in the 2 but dont really know whats different about them other than that. Its a $100 difference and dont want to risk buying the wrong 1 to start my first aquarium off haha

Thanks!

I have no idea what either of those are. All I can say is don't skimp on your skimmer. It can pull your tank out of many jams! :) I know your not saying that you want to skimp. Just offering advice. You can't have a skimmer thats to big:tongue:

looks like the R8U is slightly bigger body with a universal pump motor mounting system,so that the pump can be changed with a different type, not sure why you'd want to do that though, unless by it having a slightly bigger body, maybe the company has a larger size pump to make it suitable for a larger tank ????

both have the same DC pump motor with speed control, both are rated for the same size tank, the R8I has the pump mounted inside the body the R8U does not....both look great and both are very low power consumption

Thank you very much with the specifications on everything and the pics! It helped a lot! It looks like the tube on the R8-U design can be shortened or taken off? So maybe it can be even smaller than what it says it is? the pump seems a little far away from the body of the skimmer itself.
