Without cleaning your glass and have it still looking spotless? I have to clean mine every 3rd day (so 3days) for me. Just wondering if some reefers can go a week (ULNS) or more ans still have it looking good....

Before crash.... once every month (but it had coraline growth by then)

After Rebuild.... once a week.

I think a lot of it depends on the system but lighting as well. Under my LEDs on my 39 gallon I can't go more than 2-3 days without it looking like a huge algae blanket laying across the glass. On my Solana with a 150w 14k halide I can go 5-7 days and it still looks pretty good however I usually clean both every other day.

LEDs really causing that much algae growth? Can you see a difference from the top of the glass and the bottom of the glass?

I noticed no difference when switching from PC's on my BC to all LED when it comes to the glass being dirty. It seems about every 3-5 days. Same with my 55 when i went from t-5 to LED.

Since making adjustments to my tank and keeping nutrients low (gfo&carbon reactor) plus other habit changes, I can usually go without cleaning the glass for 5-7 days. But I will do it more often as I like the tank looking tidy. It is all about nutrients. Nutrients = algae. True, your bulbs can also greatly affect growth. I get some growth on powerheads and my overflow. For some reason it tends to grow faster there than on the glass. The cleanup crew helps keep it at bay, but every month or two I scrub down the powerheads and overflow.

Awesome. I really figured there would be more of a gap between people, but most are around 3 days before algae starts accumulating on the glass from what I see. I'm about in the same boat as most of you all are. After 3 days, my glass is pretty clean for the most part, except the sides as I can see spots where algae is starting (reflections?). I consider my tank kind of a high bioload too, so I thought I couldn't go as long as some of you. There are days my OCD kicks in and I have to clean it daily and even take a tooth brush to the corners (silicone), then there are others where it like "ehh, I can still see everything just fine." lol

I echo what the general consensus is. I can usually go anywhere between 3-5 days before I can notice a difference in the clarity of the glass. Since I only have a 17g, it takes all of about 30-45 seconds to float the glass. I usually take the outside off of a Dobie Pad and go to town on all nooks and crannies about once a month.

3 days for me, but then again the tank does not have a skimmer :) And its fed daily, so thats not too bad lol. My frag tank, i have not cleaned the glass in a month.

Im at about 4 days between cleanings. I scrape the edges with a razor every other week as corraline starts to spot up where the magnet doesn't really get.

I can go about 3 days but I don't. I work from home and am on the phone a lot. While on the phone, I stand in front of my tank and clean the glass. I like multi-tasking, especially when I can mix business with pleasure.

I probaly should do it more often, but I work pretty hard all week long, and don't have a lot of time to spend on the tank, so I usally clean it once a week, usally on friday evening when I get in and start winding down, get out the razor blade and start scraping and get to enjoy it all weekend. my wife told me earler today that i need to get to cleaning, and its not even close to friday yet, lol
