Whats the proper way to use the testing spoon?

I've been wondering for a while now on the proper way to use the spoon in test kits.
Do you need to level out the power using a straight edge or just get it somewhat level?
What do you do?

I scoop and shake close to level....a little high there, a little low there.

I know through trial & error that getting a perfect level spoon of PO4-2 reagent, when using the salifert phosphate test kit, is a waste of valuable time.

It generally doesn't matter.

Reagents measured with a spoon are typically present in excess and the exact amount won't matter.

If it's crystals like you get in the Salifert kits it gets pretty level with just a tap or two to the spoon, if it's a fine powder I do use something to level it out.
