Whats this brown stuff on my rocks?

I just woke up and i was checking out my tank, and i noticed this weird brown goop on this one rock

I hate to say this but you can’t really stop it. The live rock WILL help get you through this time period faster. Checking your parameters and maintaining good water quality will also help but no… the uglies come to every tank.

What parameter is the most importat? Last I checked po4 is 0

I would get cuc in your tank; diatoms are common in a tank with dry rock.

Nitrates, and po4. Once you have coral, it's alk, salinity, temp, and Calcium.

I was debating getting alk or algae control at lfs a few days ago and i got algae control , next ill prob get alk

What do you mean by algae control? Clean up crew or some chemical algae removal?

Ahh, okay. I was confused when you said algae control. You might be confusing diatoms with dinos. Both are different forms of algae. Diatoms are associated with the maturing process of a tank, while Dinos are a cause of bottomed-out nutrients in your tank.

Looks like diatoms, but they are nothing to worry about. They will run their course and disappear in a few weeks. That is unless you start dumping in all sorts of stuff trying to fight them and upset the balance in the tank by doing so.

Things will probably start turning green after the diatoms do their thing.

I would get that PO4 up past 0, Dinos are not something that you want to deal with. Which tester are you using?

I just tested my po4, and its up to .12, using red sea pro

IN the middle of testing, says i need to wait 9 min to deveolp, should be done ill go check
