Looks like a type of acropora. They need lots of light and strong flow, as well as good parameters to start growing. If you give them all these things, they will grow like crazy. Under stronger light they also tend to become more colourful.
it will spread down the plug and onto the rock. this is known as the encrusting phase. once it forms a nice solid base it will start growing new branches everywhere. i would say leave it where it is and it will contiue to grow

keep the nitrates and phosphates low and the color will return. sometimes it takes a while so don't be discouraged
