I just added water to my tank 2 weeks ago and had alot of LR for seeding. The issue is the LR was sitting at probably 70 degrees for 12 month so had a good amount of sponge die off. I added rock to the dry rock in the display with no lights and noticed the fuzz. The remaining LR is in the sump and I dont have any fuzz on that rock. Should I remove the seed rock from the display and perhaps manually remove any lose sponge or just let it ride out? I dont want it to spread.

Was this rock upside down before this photo or heavily shaded? Just looks like typical bacterial film to me. The stuff at the very top anyway.

The rock was in complete darkness before adding to tank, now its getting some daylight. Def a bacteria film but does this stuff go away on its own or does one have to manually remove?

It's harmless it'll go away now that it's exposed to light. It will continue under the rocks that do not get light moving forward.

Assuming those thicker patches are the same thing you'll be fine. Carry on.
