Hi,
First things first. I'm new to Marine Tanks. I have a fairly basic tank that's been running for about 6 months. Cycled for a long time before getting livestock as it scares the hell out of me. Just got the obligatory 2 clowns a few hermits and some snails. I have....had two coral plugs one was fine when I went to bed and a white stone the next day. It had been fine and healthy looking for over a month. The other is still in a holding tray suctioned to the front of the tank.
Now my question. One day I noticed these things in the pictures. They are between the glass and the suction cups. I can see a red pulsing going from the outer edge to the inner. They are interesting to watch but I get the feeling they are not a good thing to have. Should I remove them or are they actually (I hope) a good thing?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm not sure, but they're very interesting. Maybe an oligochaete worm of some kind? @WheatToast any ideas?

Welcome to Reef2Reef!
I’ve had these worms (or similar worms) appear in my sandbed from time to time, and they never caused any issues. I never got around to identifying them though, so I’ll see what I can find online right now.

Thanks. I've had a look but have not found anything that's exactly like them. Wish I could get a good video for you to see.

Reports of worms like these are pretty common online, but no one really seems to be identifying them (occasionally, they get identified as spaghetti worms, which have prominent, spaghetti-like tentacles that might be retracted or not present in OP’s worms and wouldn’t be my first guess). The consensus is that they are harmless detritivores.
