What's this on my glass?

Anyone know what this is? It's been bugging me for 2 weeks... I wipe it off and it grows back the next morning.

Stuck to the glass... Easiest way to describe is it moves like hair in water.. floating in what direction it takes. My sump has tiny amount in comparison to my display tank. Any input?

This isn't the answer you want to hear but it seems like normal algae, you can use a magnet scraper to get rid of it easily, my personal preference is a flipper magnet

To reduce the algae growth try reducing your nitrates and phosphates

I've got a glass scraper and used that but if doesn't all come off... I need a sponge to to scrub it off... And here's the thing... It's obviously a FW tank... My aim is minimal water changes as possible... I havent changed water in 5 weeks....


Nitrates on my API test kit is... Between 0 and 5ppm... Phosphates are at 5ppm.

Running carbon... Aquavitro Biogen pellets...silicate remover in reactors

FW needs even more water changes than SW.

That's the thing I've been monitoring my water levels 3 times a week within same time frames... Nitrates have always been low and phosphates too

This is where the flipper comes in, I find it to be better than a sponge

Hence why every time I'm scraping it off it comes back on.

I've tried the magnet scraper with the blade and what seems like a velcro pad on it but it didn't remove it 2ould leave a slight coating of a film like thing on the glass.

Best way to remove algae??? Any ideas?

It came recommended on Amazon so I picked it up... I found the "hooks" on the inside not that good to remove the harder stuff on the glass.

Look for one called The Flipper. That’s the gold standard in the hobby and will definitely take care of your algae

Sorry for being a pest... Although it's been called normal algae what would it's real name be? Want to see if I can scrap of and then dose tank to remove what's behind the background. Thanks

I think its film algae. I would recommend getting the flipper now they have a small medium and large model, get whichever suits your tank best. I don't recommend dosing for this type of algae.
