Whats this ? On my new rock

Hey guys, sorry about so many questions just preparing the rock i got, for cleaning
And noticed 2 things on it

1 looks like a dead plant of some sort

And the other looks like dried up worms or something might be food or poop lol


Not sure just taking a guess
Just wondering if its anything to be concerned about thanks

Old coral skeletons and calcified worm tubes. Lots of my original live rock (not man-made) has the same thing since live rock is really just coral skeletons built over time. Nothing to worry about.

The first looks like the skeletal remains of a blastomussa, or an LPS coral of similar characteristics.
The poop looks like the skeletal remains of tube worms.

So they are nothing i need to remove ?

Even the tube worms

No they are dead, just add to the rock surface area which aids your biological filtration

Thanks guys, im just going to pressure wash them
Then maybe a vinegar soak

Then soak them for a couple days and do some tests
Before adding to my tank for cycling

Xenomorphs, nuke em from orbit, its the only way to be sure.

Just old calcreous skeletons, nothing of any bother.

I got them from a guy off facebook
He had them stored away in hes garage for 4 years

They look clean. I would just fishless cycle them in a brute can for a number of weeks using Dr Tims

Yep give your rock a clean/rinse and start cycling it, dont use chemicals to clean unless you know what you are doing and are prepared for an extended prep cycle if you do, nice rock by the way, good score.

So i shouldnt do a vinegar soak ?
Just thought vinegar is a mild clean because they dont look to bad

Had others recommending bleach but i dont want to lose the colour on some

I don't think you need to, cure in heated circulated saltwater with some bacteria like microbacter7 for a month or so should be good.
