I thought maybe a feather duster but not like the others in my tank

Looks like a tube worm. On a side note, unless that acro has stabilized with the tissue necrosis, you might want to frag ahead of where it is dying off. Just a helpful suggestion.
 
That is a new frag and came like that, I'm new to SPS so am gratefully for the advice. What am I best doing with it (in idiot terms)

You may want to frag the healthy part of the colony before it spreads. It may not spread anymore but it will have a hard time growing over it's own old dead skeleton. You can clip off the healthy branches and Super glue gel them down on another frag plug. If it's spreading anymore you'll want to frag it quickly before the colony is gone.
