Not really new to the obsession, but it's been 15 years since my last salt setup and I've never used dry rock before as a seed base. Added Fritz Zyme and serious ammonium chloride (+ 20ppm). So my ammonia crashed last weekend, now at zero, Nitrates at +/- 10ppm and for the past several days this has been growing on my rocks and sand. Dino's?, Algae?, something my mother warned me about?

Diatoms... I've never had a tank so spotty like that myself but it's a good thing. It should go away somewhat, but I use CUC on mine.

Yah, that's what I thought. I'll lessen the light and wait it out. Gives me a good excuse to wait while my QT cycles. going to hold off for a while on a CUC.
