GHA or Green Hair Algae. Phosphates spur this growth.

How old is the tank, how many fish, how often do you feed? Do you have a skimmer?

It A month old just put a few fish in today

Green hair algae. Usually indicated that nutrients are high in your tank. Are you using RO/DI water for your water changes? How much are you feeding? How much and how often do you do water changes? What is your filtration system?

Its normal for tank this age to go through this cycle. Just let it consume the nutrients till it grows long and then take a tooth brush to the growth. If you haven't added any herbivores, you should do so.

Thank you, thought so we put a lawnmower in there today

Yep, this is what mine looked like also. I did the tooth brush thing and kept the rocks blown off with a baster. Kept up water changes and cleaned my filtration. Added a good size clean up crew and a diamond goby. Diamond gobys aren't for everyone, but mine does a great job. My tank is two months old, the pics are of the last month.
