Hi I have a flagfin angel in a 20 gallon qt tank with 5 chromis and 1 small hippo tang. Everyone is eating and doing fine besides the flagfin. He was eating by my LFS but refuses to eat in my care. I tired every food in the book besides live food. Anyways I decided to give him a 5 min FW dip because he was twitching and sure enough flukes cane off of him. I realised he has a red patch on him side (see pic) can anyone I'd plz?

Best thing for those red sores on angels is NFG powder. You'll have to order it probably. Most LFS don't carry it in stock. In the meanwhile Furan2 is the closest med that shares some of the ingredients with NFG. Highly recommend the NFG for keepers of angels. It's like a wonder drug on them. Those red sores can go sideways really fast. Treat as soon as possible. Best of luck. Beautiful fish.

The red patch could be the start of a bacterial infection from a fluke injury. Angels can and do develop red blotches that can become problematic quickly. I would start antibiotics.

I have furen 2, can I mix with copper?

It’s possible he’s developed a bacterial infection secondary to the flukes.

If you have NFG, I believe that’s the best antibiotic to use on angels and butterflies...

Otherwise; my preference is kanaplex, metroplex, and furan-2 dosed together for 10 days. You can replace two of the doses of metroplex (5-7 days apart) with general cure (metro/praziquantel)to address the flukes.

As far as getting him to eat, IME that is 90% of the battle. I would keep trying, live blackworms maybe... flake foods have worked for some of my picky angels, clam or mussels on the half shell, variety of frozen foods in different sizes, etc.

Sheesh you guys are fast^ or I’m too long-winded [emoji38]
