Hi everyone I, I had the unfortunate turnout of ich in my reef tank and had turned off my skimmer for a week while trying to dose some ich medication(didn't work). After setting up my qt and doing two 10 gallon water changes to a 70 gallon I turned the skimmer back on only to find its bubbling like crazy! On the lowest setting the bubbles fill the cup and overflow out of the top. Does anyone know what the problem may be? It's a bubble Magnus curve 5.
Thanks!

The medication can still be causing the skimmer to overflow. Run some fresh carbon to remove the meds and or larger water change.

Also not sure if your aware there are only 3 methods to cure ich. TTM, hypo salinity and copper.

Could be getting the ich medication out or the slime coat in the skimmer may have dried up. It should go away in a few days, just empty the cup often. I would take the skimmer out and clean it well myself and that might solve the issue as well.

There is also chloroquine phosphate for ich treatment and some evidence that Acriflavine also works.

Yes I'm using copper in the quarantine. Lost two 2-5 fish but all others kicked it it if their system within a day or two.

I added fresh carbon and I'll clean it today or tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

Personally, copper has also been my preferred choice as of late, especially with the rampant persistence of velvet and ich as of late. What type of copper are you using...chelated or non-chelated?

I'm not sure, it's the seachem cupramine copper. I did 14 drops in a 10 gallon along with daily freshwater dips.

That's a non-chelated copper. I've had success with that one, but others have not been as lucky. Lately, I've been using Coppersafe, a chelated product. Are you testing for copper concentrations in the QT?

I am not. I added under what it preferred and don't add any after dosing the first time as it does it job before I do a water change.

The Seachem copper test is simple and quick for cupramine. Highly recommended to ensure copper stays in the therapeutic range for the entire quarantine session :)
